Have We Abandoned Healing Facials?

The more obsessed our society becomes with maintaining youth, the more we, as professionals, are challenged to deliver results. However, I see an alarming trend away from our original goals, i.e., to nurture, de-stress and create a feeling of well-being.
Esthetics, according to Webster’s, means “concerned with pure emotion and sensation as opposed to pure intellectuality.” While, to some, this sounds like an innocuous goal, I think it is paramount to success. My anxiety exists on several levels. First, that we will become less caregivers and more practitioners and, secondly, we will neglect an enormous need regarding our clients’ wellness. In other words, have we gone down a path away from healing facials and does this mean that technology will eventually begin to replace us?
